SPS Commerce Founder Takes Post at Internet Start-up Netbriefings
St. Paul, Minnesota - June 26, 2000 - Netbriefings, a full-service webcast technology provider that specializes in secure and large-audience Internet broadcasts, announced that on June 21, 2000, SPS Commerce founder, Gary W. Anderson, joined Netbriefings as its CEO and chairman of the board. Mr. Anderson will remain a member of the board of directors and significant owner of SPS Commerce, but will relinquish his day-to-day duties as chairman to pursue his roles at Netbriefings full time.
Of his departure from SPS Commerce, Mr. Anderson said, " I believe I can do more for Netbriefings as part of its already strong management team. I hold SPS Commerce and my experiences there close to my heart, and I leave my position with peace of mind. The company is in the good hands of a top-notch management team and board of directors, so I know that my stake in the company is safe."
Mr. Anderson founded SPS Commerce, now an e-commerce company, in 1981, and served as its president and chairman of the board for 15 years. He has remained its chairman until now. In 1998, he founded Netbriefings and was one of the investors in Netbriefings' first round of seed capital, which the company completed at the beginning of this year. The company plans to raise additional capital later this summer.
Citing a global e-commerce analysis company's report, Mr. Anderson said of his new roles at Netbriefings, "According to Jupiter Communications, the global market for streaming media content delivery will grow rapidly from $78 million in 2000 to $2.5 billion by 2004. I truly believe that the company is right in the middle of a huge, exciting and growing streaming-media market that promises to revolutionize the way companies do business, and the way they communicate with their customers, employees, vendors and shareholders. Netbriefings can and will be a dominant, international player in the emerging market for large, interactive meetings and conventions over the Internet."
Tom Saylor, president and COO of Netbriefings, said, "Having him here full time will be immensely helpful and of paramount importance as we prepare for accelerated growth. The timing of his full-time dedication to Netbriefings could not be more opportune, especially as we enter this next exciting phase."
Mr. Anderson has 30 years of experience in computer software development and management. Prior to founding SPS Commerce, he was vice president of Northern Numbers, a start-up company that developed general accounting software.
In its short existence, Netbriefings has webcast several events. Among the most recent were St. Paul Mayor Norm Coleman's State of the City Address, in February; the seminar "Going Public in The New Economy," held by The CollaborativeŽ, a Minnesota membership organization for growth-oriented, emerging companies, in June; and law firm Larkin, Hoffman, Daly and Lindgren's public seminar on Internet legal issues, also in June.
